Richard A. Kohrs
February 8, 1934 — September 11, 2007
Richard "Dick" Kohrs, 73 of Andover, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007 peacefully at home surrounded by family. Dick was born February 8, 1934 in Davenport, Iowa to Harry and Ruth (Lane) Kohrs.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Osco Community Church in Osco, IL on Friday, September 14, 2007.
Dick graduated from Rock Island High School in 1951. He worked at Servus Rubber in Rock Island for a year and then went to ALCOA in Riverdale, IA. He retired in January of 1996 after 43 years of service. He was a union steward for Local #105 for quite some time. He also served as a volunteer for United Cerebral Palsy of Western, IL for 19 years. Dick's great grandfather started Kohrs Meat Packing Plant in Davenport, IA; it was later sold to Oscar-Mayer.
Dick enjoyed many activities, writing to the editor of our local paper, "The Dispatch" to express his viewpoint. He was a big fan of PBS television, watching nature shows and the "History Channel". He also loved working crossword puzzles; the more challenging the better, he thought. One huge family favorite was visiting various state parks. Although there were many none could compare to his beloved "Blackhawk State Park which he enjoyed immensely, ever since his childhood.
He especially loved the majestic snowcap Rocky Mountains in his adopted state of Colorado and another one of his happiest memories was visiting the unparallel beauty of Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Teton Mountains. He enjoyed spending time on the sidelines cheering his grandsons in their various sporting events.
Those left to honor his memory are his spouse of 38 years Judithe

Several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law on the West Coast and one brother-in-law in Central, IL. Also the Salter and Roegiers families and good friends of many years including Robert Teuscher of St. Louis, MO, Bob Hauman of East Moline, Ben & Barbara Newcomb of Rock Island and Mike and Liz Rogers of East Moline.
He was preceded in death by his parents, several aunts and an uncle, his first wife Charlene and also very close friends Woody and Esther Salter, Cliff Rumlar, Jim Reilly, Cal Schwartz and Duwain Mettlin.
In lieu of flowers because of allergies his spouse and family ask that you pass along an act of kindness to a stranger. GOD BLESS!
