On January 6, 2017, at the age of 91, Richard "Dick" Stoneking went to heaven to spend eternity with Jesus. A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38 Avenue, Moline with the Rev. Michael Kennedy officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00.  Private burial services will take place at a later time.  In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the Faith Evangelical Free Church in Moline.

Born in Rock Island on June 13th, 1925 to Harry and Lillian Stoneking, Richard spent most of his educational years in Galesburg, IL. From 1943 to 1945, Richard served in the army during World War II. While serving in Italy, Richard was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds he received. He returned to Rock Island for employment at Farmall International Harvester Co. He married Gladys I. Powless on July 15th, 1950 in Erie, IL. In 1982, Richard retired from Farmall as a Tool Room Supervisor. After retirement, Richard was employed by the city of Rock Island Park Board, serving at both Highland Springs and Saukie golf courses. He was active in his church, teaching Bible studies and Sunday School.

His spouse, Gladys, daughters and sons-in-law Cynthia & Mike Kelley, Laura & David Brummitt, and Sally & Jeff Zerull, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
