Richard A. Wells, 93, of Moline, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be at Noon, Friday, March 4, 2022, at Trinity Church, 1818 6th Avenue, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Trinity Church, or the family.
Richard was born May 30, 1928, in Moline, son of Arthur and Lola (Reagan) Wells. He was a U.S. Veteran, serving as a Sergeant with the Marines from 1950-1952. He married Joyce D. DeCausmaker May 9, 1953, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Rock Island. She preceded him in death December 10, 2014. Richard retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked as a letter carrier for over 37 years.
Richard's joys were spending time with his family, especially with his wife Joyce, the love of his life for over 61 years. He cherished time spent with his family. Richard was a proud letter carrier who enjoyed delivering mail. His hobbies were fishing with buddies Big Jim, Barry, Mike, and son-in-law David and golfing which brought him happiness. You'd see the American flag flying at his house every morning along with a yard that was always in tip-top shape.
Survivors include his children, Pam (David) Ross, Milan, K. Arthur Wells, South Orange, NJ; grandchildren, Michael (Kayla) Ross, Valley Park, MO, Kyle (fiancé Leah) Ross, Davenport, IA, Ingrid (fiancé Matt) Wells, New York, NY and Dr. Markus Wells, Washington, DC; great grandchild, Ilka Marie Ross, Valley Park, MO.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; parents, Arthur and Lola; and sister, Shirley Peterson.
