Richard “Whitey” J. Danielson, 76, of East Moline, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Anyone wishing to attend the graveside should meet at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m., for procession to the cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 246. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Richard was born on March 5, 1946, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of Eldon “E. Kenneth” and Myrtle (Hansen) Danielson. He was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Marine Corps from 1965-1969. He married Teresa “Terry” Pervenanze on July 24, 1987, in Port Byron. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2019. Richard retired from the Rock Island Arsenal with over 40 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and being with his family and his beloved dog, Zeta.
Survivors include his children, Dawn (Bryan) Stone of Hampton, Tammy (Albert) Burgess of Camanche, Iowa; grandchildren, Amanda (Jason) Flaugh of Coal Valley, Alexandria (Ryne) Parker of Moline, Madison Streeter of Viola; great-grandchildren, Noah, Leona Jo, Hallie, and Zoe Flaugh, and Sebastian Parker; sisters, Lois Retzl of Davenport, and Elaine Foster of Moline.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sister, Mary Jo Doud; brothers, Marvin and Denton “Red” Danielson.
