Rita R. Smith, age 67, of Moline, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 3:00-4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Animal Aid Humane Society, 239-50th Street, Moline, IL.
Rita was born July 25, 1942 in Moline, the daughter of Don and Vernette (Carlson) Larson. She married Warren Smith on January 17, 1959 in Moline.
Rita was employed in the admissions office at Black Hawk College for over 30 years, retiring in 2009. She was a volunteer for Animal Aid, where she was on the Board, serving as secretary. Rita loved animals, especially her cats. She enjoyed gardening and decorating. Rita loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her daughters and her grandchildren.
