Robert Burns Ausdal Sr

Robert Burns Ausdal, Sr., 79 of Rock Island, died May 3, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport, IA.
Visitation will be from 4:30-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. A private family graveside service will be held Thursday at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the Quad Cities Animal Welfare Center or the VFW post of choice.
Robert was born August 25, 1926 in Marshalltown, IA to Peter and Gertrude (Stackhouse) Ausdal. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1944 and proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Quartermaster Third Class. Robert was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Iowa, earning a B.A. in Economics with High Distinction in 1950. He remained a Hawkeye at heart for the rest of his life. Robert married June Clark on June 3, 1952 in Rock Island.
Robert worked for the Davenport Investment firm of Quail & Company as a stockbroker for 25 years. In 1979 he started his own NASD-member investment firm, Robert B. Ausdal & Company, Inc., where he was serving as Chairman at the time of his death. On April 3, 2006, Robert entered his 57th year in the investment business, all in downtown Davenport.
Robert will be missed for his wisdom, strength, wit, humor and caring nature. He was a principled man who stood up for his beliefs and convictions and was truly the "lone rhinoceros".
