Robert E. Bell, age 91, of East Moline, died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park with military honors conducted by East Moline American Legion Post #0227. Memorials may be made to Wildwood Baptist Church.
Bob was born January 11, 1918 in East Moline, the son of Ray and Rose (Lang) Bell. He married Jane Philleo on June 28, 1941 in Moline. She preceded him in death on February 20, 1991.
Bob was employed as an inspector for John Deere Harvester Works. He retired in 1980 after 42 years of service. He was an Army veteran, and was a member of the East Moline American Legion Post #0227 and the VFW Post #2056. Bob had been a member of Wildwood Baptist Church, formerly Watertown Baptist Church. He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed spending time with his family.
