Robert B. Crippen, age 90, of Andover, died Sunday, March 2, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. 1301-4th Street, Orion. Visitation is from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Andover Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Andover Lutheran Church or a favorite charity.
Robert was born April 16, 1917 in Moline, the son of Walter and Cecile (Brady) Crippen. He married Marjorie E. Caouette on October 14, 1939 in Moline.
Robert was a Moline High Graduate and attended Augustana College, he was then employed as a Foundry Coordinator at International Harvester, East Moline for 35 ? years retiring in May, 1982. He was a member of First Christian Church, Moline where he was a former deacon. Robert was a member of Thor Lodge # 9 I.O.V.; former member of the Orion School Board; former Mayor of Andover; and the first President of M-Men's Basketball. He was very active in sports in his school years at Moline High School. Robert enjoyed gardening, fishing, was an avid golfer and a diehard Cubs fan.
