Robert "Bob" R. Evans, 82, of Moline, died December 11, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 p.m. with a Masonic service conducted by Trio Lodge #57 at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, Rock Island where he was a member.
Bob was born August 16, 1927 in Rock Island to Carlisle R. and Katharine (Ernst) Evans. He married Barbara Sinksen on November 3, 1956 in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on October 8, 2000.
Bob was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII with the occupational troops in Berlin. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 45 years retiring in 1988 where he was a postal clerk and examiner for the Rock Island Post Office.
Bob was a member of Trio Lodge #57, Svithiod Club, Friends Circle and a social member of the Moline Vikings Club. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards.
He is survived by: Brother Carlisle "Ki" (Barbara) Evans of Coal Valley; Sister Nancy (Gordon) VanWaes of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; Sister-in-law Darlene Sinksen ofMoline; many nieces and nephews and Special friend Jenny Porter of East Moline.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
