Robert D. Gengler, age 75, of Milan, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 p.m with a prayer service at 4p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with military rites conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established.
Robert was born December 4, 1932 in Milan, IL to Rudolph and Ruth Hendon Gengler. He married Lorraine E. Carpentier on June 25, 1953 at St. Pauls, Rock Island.
Robert operated a car wash and did remodeling work. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley. He was known to his family and friends as "Mr. Fix It."
