Robert Lyle Hart, age 80, of East Moline, formerly of Coal Valley, died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Private burial and committal of Robert's and his wife, Maxine's cremated remains will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Milan Animal Shelter. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Moline is assisting the family.
Robert was born August 4, 1931 in Clovis, NM, the son of George and Margaret Wells Hart. He married Lila Maxine Hopkins on September 26, 1959 in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on January 6, 2009 in Silvis.
Robert graduated from Davenport schools, St. Ambrose, and attended local business college. As a young man, he enjoyed participating in boxing tournaments. Robert also enjoyed singing and playing the guitar.Robert was employed at International Harvester/Farmall for 30 years. After retirement he worked many years at the Rock Island Arsenal. Robert was a Korean War veteran, serving his country as an army communications officer during combat. He and Maxine enjoyed their vacations in Florida. Robert was a devout Catholic and Christian, a proud American and a very kind and generous person wanting to help others in need. He was devoted to charitable organizations, some of those included St. Jude's, Smile Train, UNICEF, American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, Christian Children's Fund, Sisters of Charity, P.E.T.A. and local animal shelters. He was an active member at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rock Island serving as an usher for 30 years.

Loving & caring sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews will miss Bob.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Janie and Janelle; 2 brothers, John and Richard, and his dog, Angel.
