Robert Jones

Robert T. Jones, 85, of Buffalo, IA, formerly of Orion, IL, died Wednesday, September 07, 2016, at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus, Davenport, IA.

Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and private burial of cremains will be held in South Haven, MI, at a later date.  Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.  Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Robert was born on April 26, 1931, in South Haven, MI, the son of Oliver H. and Laverna B. Hamlin Jones.  He was a graduate of Michigan State University and worked in construction management for Twin State Components in Orion, IL.

Robert first enlisted in the United States Air Force and later enlisted in the U.S. Army.  He went to Officer Candidate School where he became an Officer, Company Commander, and First Lieutenant.  Robert was a Korean War veteran.  He earned his wings in the service and continued his love of flying throughout his life.  For 25 years, he enjoyed spending time sailing in Laguna Beach, CA.  Robert was heavily involved in his community.

Survivors include his children, Carrie (Dave) Sebetka, Cedar Rapids, IA; Tim (Kim) Jones, Brooklyn Park, MN; Doug Jones, MI, Scott (Mona) Jones, Longmont, CO, Steve Jones, Buffalo, IA, and Kathy Hougland, Davenport, IA; 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
