Robert A. Osborne

Robert A. Osborne, 74, of East Moline, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2018, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave, Moline.  Visitation will be on Thursday, April 19th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.  Entombment will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, East Moline, where military honors will be performed by the Moline American Legion Post 246.  Memorials may be made to the John Deere Classic, “Birdies for Charity.”

Robert was born on November 7, 1943 in Moline, the son of Samuel and Louise Gamble Osborne.  He married Donna Reed in Rock Island on January 9, 1982.  Robert proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Vietnam era.  He received a bachelor’s degree from Augustana College, and continued with graduate work also at Augustana.  Robert worked at Deere & Co. with a career spanning 36 years, retiring in 2001.  He loved to play golf and participated in several competitive local teams and leagues.  Robert worked as a committee chair and volunteer with the John Deere Classic for over 20 years.  He loved watching his grandson, Isaac, play sports, especially golf.  He was his pride and joy.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; daughter, Amber (Matt) Rumler, Silvis; son, Michael Osborne, TX; grandson, Isaac Rumler, Silvis; and brother, Gary (Jackie) Osborne, Moline.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl Osborne; daughter, Nicole Osborne; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Vera and William Reed.
