Robert Murrel Sackett, 87, of Silvis, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, at home.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018, from 10 a.m. to noon at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. at the National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal, where military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246.  Those wishing to attend should meet at Esterdahl’s by 12:15 p.m. for a procession to the Arsenal.  Memorials may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.

Robert was born on May 17, 1930 in Moline, IL, the son of Paul and Lillian (Payton) Sackett.  He married Patricia Westlund in 1954; and together they had two daughters.  Robert proudly served in the United States Military and Airforce from 1951 to 1955.  He then worked as a machine mechanic at the Rock Island Container Corp, JI CASE, and Cummins Diesel.  Robert enjoyed golfing, reading, walking, and exercising at the Moline YMCA.  He also enjoyed helping out those located at Heartland Towers in Silvis.

Survivors include his daughters, Cindy Sackett, Silvis, and Sandy Solverson, Moline; brother, Bill Sackett, Moline; grandchildren, Nathan Drewes, Denver, CO, Danielle Solverson (Andrew Grohne), Colona, Erik Solverson, Phoenix, AZ, and Karl Tornquist, Moline; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was also survived by a number of special friends: Brad and Kristy Hammond, Tim and Mary Ann Reagan, Glen and Mary Ferns, and Robert and Donna Tornquist.

He was preceded in death by his mother; father; brothers, Cliff and Bud; and sister, Georgie.
