Robert C. Stille, 85, of Moline, formerly of 19020 Hubbard Rd. East Moline, died March 29, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2007 at Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-7 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church or Habitat for Humanity.
Robert was born May 2, 1921 in Floyd Co., IA to Edward and Elsie (Hauswirth) Stille. He was baptized May 29, 1921 and confirmed April 14, 1935 at Evangelical and Reformed Church in Pleasant Hill rural Nashua. He attended Floyd County rural school. He married Lorretta Bennett on June 20, 1941 at Central Methodist Church, Charles City, IA. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last year. Robert and Lorretta and family lived in the Waterloo/Nashua, IA area prior to moving to the Quad City area in 1957.
Robert was initiated into Local 25 Plumber and Pipefitters on January 16, 1958. He was president of Local 25 for 2 terms, served on the Refrigeration Fitter Examining Board and taught journeymen and apprentice classes for most of his career. Over the years he worked for various contractors and retired on June 1, 1984. He also taught refrigeration/airconditioning classes at the United Township Area Career Center for seven years.
Robert was a WWII veteran. He was a 50 year member of Riverside United Methodist Church where he served on the property committee for several years. His hobbies included woodcarving, woodworking, fishing and being challenged by any necessary repair job. He was a master machinist and craftsman and often designed and built his own tools and equipment.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Clarence, Kenneth, Clyde, and Baby Gary Stille, his sister Lucille Cummins, brother-in-law Leonard Bennett and son-in-law Dennis Davis.
