Robert J. Tholl

Robert J. Tholl, 86, of Orion, passed away Thursday June 13, 2024, at his home.

Funeral Mass will be 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion. The family has asked that all attending the funeral wear their favorite baseball team attire. Interment will be at Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Orion Little League.

Bob was born on July 31, 1937, in Valley Falls, Kansas, the son of Julius P. and Iva Mae (Utz) Tholl. He married Frances R. Ruble on June 11, 1966, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moline. She preceded him in death on January 11, 2011.

Bob was a member of Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. He was an Orion little league coach and in his younger years played softball for the Dayton Triangles, the Andover Hawks, Bill’s Tap, and Nuside. Bob enjoyed golfing, all the Orion High School sports as well as following the Heartland Havoc Softball, Alleman High School Softball, Moline Blackhawk Baseball and the Moline High School and Legion teams. Bob started with John Deere Harvester in 1963 as a mechanic and retired in 1996 after 33 years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers fan. In his later years, Bob loved spending time with his friends at the local coffee shop. Above all Bob loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his sons, Thomas (Jennifer) Tholl, Todd (Erica) Tholl, Timothy Tholl; grandchildren, Ashley (Jake) Schoeck and Chase Tholl; brother, Don E. (Jenny) Tholl; sister, Judy Olson.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; grandson, Nicolas Tholl; brother-in-law, Don Olson.
