Robert "Yogi" McHugh

Robert L “Yogi” McHugh, 73, of Andover, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Hope Creek Nursing and Rehab, East Moline.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Orion. Memorial visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at Andover Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Compassus Hospice, Moline or Alternatives for the Older Adults.

Robert was born on June 7, 1948, in Keokuk, IA, the son of Robert and Mildred L “Pat” (Belknap) McHugh. He married Donna Haines in 1973 in Davenport, IA. He later married Sherri Gabel on July 29, 1995, in Carthage, IL. He was previously employed as an assembler for over twenty-eight years at Case IH in East Moline, retiring in 2004. Robert drove school buses for Orion School District for 10 years. Yogi was a member of St John’s Catholic Church in Woodhull, IL. He was a former member of Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Orion, IL, where he was a member of the Men’s Club. He was a member of the UAW Local 865 in East Moline. He liked antique cars.

Survivors include his wife; children, Deana Jimenez, Florida, Danny (Heather) McHugh, Lebanon, MO, Charles “CJ” (Rachel) McHugh, Milan, IL, Nicole (Dewanda Underwood) McHugh, Rockford, IL, Gabe McHugh, Andover; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Jody (Bob) Hasten, Carthage, IL, Jeanie (Greg) Jones, Carthage, IL, Donna Thompson, Ferris, IL, Dean (Terri) McHugh, Carthage, IL, Richard (Melody) McHugh, Moline, IL; and special cousin, Susie (Charlie) Johnson, Bettendorf, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and half-brother, Earl Russell.
