Rodney J. Cashman

Rodney J. Cashman, 84, formerly of Orion, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023, at River Crossing of Moline.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Monday April 24, 2023, at Western Township Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Orion United Methodist Church, where Rodney was a member. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Orion is assisting the family.

Rodney was born on May 26, 1938, in Beverly, Massachusetts, the son of Harland and Ethel (Carson) Cashman. He married Sharon L. Strandberg on June 22, 1968, at the former Andover Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on June 8, 2021. Rodney started work at AGH Feed Mill in Orion, retiring in 2014. He also farmed in Orion from 1968 to 1982 and was previously employed with the Orion School District as a school bus driver. He coached softball for ten years and was an avid Red Sox and NASCAR fan. Family was very important to Rodney, and he especially loved going to his grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities.

Survivors include children, Alan Cashman, (Sonya Clark) of Silvis, Beth Wilkinson (Chris Williams) of Davenport, Cara Cashman (Clint Coronell) of Silvis; grandchildren, Allie Graham (Chester) of Davenport, Sarah Williams of Davenport, Christopher Williams, Jr. of Davenport, Cassie Clark of Moline; great grandchild, Lacey Graham; brother, Harland “Jim” Cashman of Reeds Spring, Missouri; sister-in-law, Denise Baird (Scott) and family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon; parents; and brother, Robert.
