Rodney Koppenhoefer, 46 of Rock Island died November 5, 2004 at his home.
Visitation will be Monday, November 8, 2004 from 4-8 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. A breakfast will be served at 8:00a.m. Tuesday, November 9th at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1330-13th St., Moline, IL, before the 10a.m. service. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. at East Lawn Cemetery, Bloomington, IL. Following the commital service, a luncheon will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the support of Contemporary Worship Ministries at Trinity Lutheran Church Moline or St. John's Lutheran Church, Bloomington, IL. Also memorials may be made to an educational fund for his daughters or the American Cancer Society.
Rodney was born February 25, 1958 in Killeen, TX to Ervin and Dorothy Elaine Muehling Koppenhoefer.
He married Laura Harding on July 20, 1985 in Bloomington, IL. Rodney earned his associates degree at Illinois Central College, in Peoria, IL. He earned his B.S. at Bradley University, Peoria and his MBA at Clarke College, Dubuque, IA.
Rodney was a clinical biomedical engineer at Brohaw Hospital, Normal, IL and then at Oregon Health Science University Hospital in Portland, OR. Upon return to Bloomington, he headed clinical engineering and then became Director of Facilities for Bromenn Regional Medical Center. He was last employed as the practice manager for Gastroenterology Associates and the Center for Digestive Health, Bettendorf, IA.
Rodney was a guitarist, bass player and vocalist, helping to establish the Community of Joy Praise Band at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bloomington, IL. He also supported similar ministries at Wartburg Seminary and Trinity Lutheran Church. Rodney enjoyed golfing, boating and fishing. He was an advocate for the ordination of women as pastors. He was also an advocate for workplace health and early detection and treatment of cancer.
Rodney was a loving and supportive husband and father.
