Roger Sobottka, 88, of East Moline, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at UnityPoint Health Trinity Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
Roger was born on March 1, 1934, in Plum City, Wisconsin, the son of Henry and Freida (Kempf) Sobottka. He was a U.S. Veteran, having served with the Army for 3 years. He married Yvonne Richards Noll on May 22, 1982, in Davenport. He retired from International Harvester in 1992, where he worked as a machinist for 38 years. Roger was later employed as a bus driver for United Township High School from 1993 until 2003. Roger was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed spending his time playing golf, traveling, and woodworking. He also liked to tend to his yard, his motor home, snow birding in Texas and snowmobiling in Wisconsin.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne; children, Joy (Duane) Hill, JoAnne (Danny) Brunat, Julie (Mark) Larvenz; stepson, Pete Noll, III; grandchildren, Matt Miner, Michelle (Darrick) Calhoun, Deidra (Mark) Landergren, Katie Hill, Keith Hill, Cameron VerBeke; step grandchildren, Pete Noll, IV, Zachary Noll, Patrick Noll; great grandchildren, Aiden Hill and Jameson Stokes; sisters, Joyce Hawke and Janie Terpstra; and brother, Tom (Jane) Wider.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, David (Val) Sobottka, Stanley Sobottka, Dale (Joyce) Sobottka; sisters, Carol (Burt) Huneke, Shirley Dodds, and Ellen (Gene) Kirchner.
