Roland G. Karn, 80, of Silvis, died July 20, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus.
A private family funeral service will be held at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. There is no visitation. Burial will be at Rose-Lawn Memorial Estates, Moline. Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, Moline.
Roland was born on September 29, 1929, to Charles and Julia Karn, in Prophetstown, Illinois. He married Betty Jane Newnham on May 12, 1950 in Moline.
Roland was in the Air Force and later in the U.S. Army as a helicopter mechanic. He was a special investigator inspector for John Deere Plow Planter in Moline, retiring in 1987.
Roland was a member of Moline Gospel Temple for over 50 years. While there, he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, bus driver, and kitchen helper for the Jubilee Club. He was a charter member of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, Moline.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Roland (Helen) Karn, Moline; one daughter, Dawn (Rick) Willits, Moline; two granddaughters, Bonnie (Corey) Waller, Matherville; and Eliza (Ivan) Guthrie, Carbondale, IL. Also, two great grandchildren. Aiyana and Canyon Waller; two sisters, Marjorie Ridenour, Moline; and Marian Sikemma, Mt. Carroll, IL, and one brother, Merle (Karna) Karn, Bettendorf, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
