Ronald Farwell, age 63, of Orion, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City after a courageous battle with lymphoma.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 11th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Orion American Legion. Memorials may be made to his church, St. Paul Lutheran or to the Coast Guard Auxiliary

Ron was born on August 13, 1945 in Moline the son of Edward and Ruth Amsbury Farwell. He married Tina Hamarstrom on September 16, 1967 in Orion.
Ron began his work career at Lerch and Thonn, Inc., Rock Island and became a partner in the firm. He later purchased the firm and renamed it Business Technology Integrators. He was an Air Force veteran and was past commander of the American Legion, a member of the Honor Guard and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He also served on the Citizens' Advisory Council for
Career Education at Orion High School, the board of the Orion Education Foundation and he received the Orion Education Association Friend of Education Award. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he had served on the Church Council. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating.
Survivors include his wife Tina, his children Ron and Natalie Farwell of Orion and Ed Farwell and Rachel Peed of Hampton; his grandchildren Dean, Olivia and Courtney Farwell of Orion; sister-in-law Charmaine Morse of Rock Island; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jeff and Shirley Hamarstrom of Burlington, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Nancy McKeag and Becky Farwell and his brother Roger Farwell.
