Ronald L. Parker

Ronald L. Parker, 89, of Moline, formerly of Sherrard, passed away April 16, 2025, at his home at Overlook Village.

Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday April 24, 2025, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sherrard Cemetery.

Ron was born on May 9, 1935, in Ophiem, Illinois, the son of Howard and Alverna (Carlson) Parker. He had lived in Sherrard for most of his life and was a descendant of the pioneers of Richland Grove. He married Marlene Ann Hall on October 2, 1954, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Matherville, Illinois.

Ron was a Union carpenter and construction superintendent for many jobs in Illinois and Iowa. He was a 70-year member of Local 166, Rock Island, Illinois. Ron had been on the board of Mercer County Historical Society, Sherrard City Council, Richland Grove Township Board and had been Township Clerk for Richland Grove Township. He served in the National Guard and Army Reserve and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He enjoyed being on the Mississippi River, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene; sons, David (Lisa) Parker, Taylor Ridge, and Dan (Beth) Parker, Andalusia; grandchildren, Danica Parker, West Des Moines, Travis (Kim) Parker, Muscatine, Ellery Parker, San Diego, Keely Parker, Naperville; great granddaughter, Presley Parker, Muscatine; and brother, Jerald Parker, Sherrard.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
