Ronald L. "Skeets, Hoagey" Moore, 69 of Rock Island went home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2005 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Per Ronnie's wishes his body will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be 12 p.m. with a visitation from 11:30- to service time, Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at First Baptist Church, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family. Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. is assisting the family.
Ronnie was born May 20, 1935 in Blommington, IL to Willard "Skelly" and Ruth Downs Moore.
For many years Ronnie operated a shoeshine stand at Highland Park Bowl, Moline.
Ronald was an honorary fireman of Moline Fire Department. He enjoyed bowling, rolle bolle, and fishing. He loved doing community service and was a big supporter of the Special Olympics and Easter Seales, where he helped with the root beer floats. He was a member of the Jay Cees where he was a Seargent at Arms. He was awarded the U.S. Ambassador Award, which is the highest award to be bestowed by the Jay Cees. He also worked many years at the Jay Cee's Haunted House. He was very active in the East Moline/Silvis Kewanis where he worked on Peanut Day and Save the Children activites. He was an avid Bears and Illini fan and loved his dog Joy.
Despite his disabilities Ronnie rose above and helped many community organizations. He was a friend to everyone and had a heart of gold.
