Ronald "Ron" I. Peterson

Ronald “Ron” I. Peterson, 88, of Andover, passed away, June 22, 2024, at Allure of Geneseo.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Andover and will be live streamed on his obituary page at esterdahl.com. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, at the church. Burial will be at Andover Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Augustana Lutheran Church, Andover Historical Society, and/or the Jenny Lind Chapel. 

Ron was born on May 24, 1936, in Moline, the son of Florence (Johnson) and Ivan Peterson. He married Eilene Peterson on September 14, 1963, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline. Ron was baptized at the Augustana Lutheran Church on July 5, 1936, and was confirmed on June 5, 1949. He attended Andover and Orion Schools, graduating in 1953. Ron then graduated from the Moline Institute of Commerce in 1954. He retired as a controller from Thoms Proestler, Co, Rock Island, IL, in August of 2002. Ron was a United States Marine Corps Veteran, serving from 1958 to 1964 and was honorably discharged. He lived in Andover his entire life, where he was dedicated to his church, his family, and the community. He was recognized by the Orion Chamber of Commerce as their man of the year in 1985 for his work on Andover’s 150th celebration and was given the key to Andover in 2011.

Survivors include his wife, Eilene Peterson; children Laura (Brad) Rickey, and Craig (Doris) Peterson; grandchildren Allison (Dalton), Karl, Ashley, and Eva; brother Dave (Deb) Peterson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
