Rosa M. Schelfaut, 85, of Moline, died Sunday, November 20, 2016, at Rosewood Care Center Moline.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. with a visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Entombment will be at St. Mary’s Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to The Jim and Trudy Maloof St. Jude Midwest Affiliate Clinic or to a memorial fund for her great grandchildren’s education.
Rosa was born on January 24, 1931, in St. Nicholas, Belgium, the daughter of Aloise and Renilde Marie Rooms Bollaert. She married Joseph M. Schelfaut on May 3, 1952, in St. Nicholas, Belgium, and he preceded her in death on August 12, 2011. Rosa and her husband and daughter moved to Moline from Belgium in September of 1958.
Rosa loved her grandchildren and her dog, Krueger. She enjoyed shopping, crocheting, and sewing. Rosa was truly a social butterfly. She especially enjoyed going to Panera for coffee and to the Belgian Culture Center for waffles.
Survivors include her daughter, Marianne (Dale) Kistner, Moline, IL; grandchildren, Garrett (Ashlee Asplund) Kistner, Rock Island, IL, Joseph (Elizabeth) Kistner, Cambridge, IL, and Lisa (Dustin) Schubert, Bettendorf, IA; great grandchild, Emma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Larry.
