Rowena M. Farwell, age 90 formerly of Orion died February 18, 2004 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 21, 2004 at Orion United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. till service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to Orion United Methodist Church or to the Orion Educational Foundation. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd is handling the arrangements.
Rowena was born February 17, 1914 in Preemption Township, IL to Edward and Ella Wiggins Farwell.
Rowena graduated from Western Illinois University and taught school for 40 years. The first 15 years she taught in rural one-room schools. The last 25 years she taught in the Orion school district teaching fifth grade and middle school science.
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the Orion United Methodist Church Queen Esther circle. She was an ambassador for the People to People program traveling in many foreign countries.
