Ruby "Rue" I. Tune, 79, of Moline, IL, went to heaven to be with her Savior, Jesus, on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Rosewood Care Center of Moline, IL.
Memorial Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Homewood Evangelical Free Church, 3303 60th Street, Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church of Galesburg or a charity of your choice.
Ruby was born on November 27, 1933, in Owensville, MO, the daughter of William and Golden I. (Branson) Wewerka. She married Donald W. Tune on July 29, 1956, in Ferguson, MO. He preceded her in death on February 6, 2010. She graduated from Jefferson City High School and later from Missouri Baptist School of Nursing, in 1954. Ruby worked for the VNA in St. Louis. In 1960, they moved to Galesburg where her husband opened Northside Drug. They were very active members of Bethel Baptist Church where she was a librarian for many years. While her children attended, she was active in the Galesburg school system. She loved to read and volunteered at Friends of the Library. Ruby was involved with the Reading Buddy Program and Symphony Board. She and Don traveled extensively through Europe, Mexico, and the U.S., even traveling to Russia during the Cold War Era. Above all, she loved helping people and was a wonderful grandmother.
