Ruskin Arnold " Grandpa on the River" Lack, age 82 of Davenport, died Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Davenport Lutheran Home.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Davenport Lutheran Home or Hospice. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Moline is assisting the family.
Ruskin was born March 17, 1924 in Des Moines, the son of Elmer Iver and Annie Josephine (Ljungren) Lack. He married Theresa Mary Darkenwald on July 25, 1947.
Ruskin was the owner and operator of "Lack Appliance" which he operated with his father, Elmer Lack, from 1939-1975.
Ruskin graduated from Davenport High School in 1942. He was a member of the United States Army Air Corps in World War II where he was an airplane mechanic and crew chief. Ruskin was a part of the air transport combat squadron in the China, India, and Burma campaigns where he flew over 500 combat hours. He was a member of the Moline Vikings Club, CBJ Association and the Hump Pilots Association.
