Russell E. Solomonson

Russell E. Solomonson, 82, of Coal Valley, died November 20, 2007 at his home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, Nov.26, 2007 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. 1301-4th St., Orion. Visitation will be from 1-4 Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Colona Fire Department.
Russell was born December 21, 1924 in Geneseo to Oscar and Esther (Johnson) Solomonson. He farmed in the Colona/ Coal Valley area.
Russell was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion where he was an usher for many years. He was a member of Moose Lodge #990, Geneseo. He was a member of the farm bureau. He loved to dance, go out to eat, and had numerous friends too many mention. At times he could be a very private person.
Russell never missed to show off his tractors and would ride in the parades in Colona, Geneseo, and East Moline. He loved his farm and couldn't stand to see a weed in the fields. He will be sadly missed by a special friend Magda Beardsworth.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert, Glenn and his sister Florence LeRette.
