Russell C. Wilson, 85 of Silvis, died February 16, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Ave.,Moline. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park, Moline, IL with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to Make A Wish Foundation or the Childrens Tumor Foundation, 95 Pine St., 16th Floor, New York, New York 10005, www.ctf.org.
Russell was born June 24, 1921in Silvis, IL son of James and Silver Coin Brown Wilson. After graduating from Moline High School, he moved to Peoria. He married Betty Kellogg on June 29, 1941 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on December 29, 1997. Russell then met and later married Ulla M. Ebel on December 18, 1999.
He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Rome, IL and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union.
Russell served in the First Calvary Division under General Douglas MacArthur in the Philippines. He was injured in a mortar attack and received the Purple Heart.
