Ruth A. Lenser, 85, of Moline, formerly of Illinois City, died November 14, 2009 at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.
Memorial service and burial of cremains will be in Rock Island National Cemetery at a future date. Memorials may be made to Illinois City United Methodist Church or Reynolds American Legion Auxiliary #1166. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family.
Ruth was born April 7, 1924 in Buffalo Prairie Township, IL to William S. and Florence (Dungan) Cannam. She married Clarence "Art" Lenser on June 23, 1946 in Illinois City.
Ruth worked as a Remittance Agent for the Secretary of State and as a secretary for Drury Township for 24 years.
Ruth was a member of Illinois City United Methodist Church where she held numerous offices and was a member of the Martha Circle for 50 years. She was also a member of the Reynolds American Legion Auxiliary #1166 and Republican Women of Rock Island County. Ruth also chaired other various church and community activities and ran a small business out of her home in Illinois City.
Ruth's family would like to thank the staff at Friendship Manor for their wonderful care.
She is survived by Husband Clarence; Brother-in-law Ralph (Vi) Lenser of Rock Island; Nieces Carol (Dave) Davis of Moline, Linda Ohl of Rock Island;
Nephew Robert (Connie) Lenser of Florida; Great niece and nephews; Several cousins and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
