Ruth I. Nuss, 91, of Moline, passed away, Monday, November 22, 2021, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Cremation rites will be accorded. No services will be held. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline is assisting the family.
Ruth was born on December 14, 1929, in Moline, the daughter of William and O. Marie (Carlsward) Helstrom. She married Cliff Sandberg and later married Delmar “Bud” Nuss in Galesburg in 1972. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1989. Ruth worked at John Deere, later for Dr. Paschal and then at the former Lutheran Hospital in Moline. She was a woman of many talents including drawing, painting, woodworking, singing, taking care of all her family. Ruth lived her life her way with no regrets. She accepted the spouses of her children with open arms. Whenever asked where she wanted to go her response was always Florida. Memories of her and her big heart will stay with her family forever.
Survivors include her children, Laura (Rick) Cochuyt, Moline, Connie (Kenneth) Dodson, Moline, and Bruce (Lisa) Sandberg, Moline; grandchildren, Lisa (Brian) Volk, Ryan Eaves, Chad (Mara) Cochuyt, Jason (Josie) Cochuyt, Justin (Whitney) Cochuyt, Corey (Todd) Downing, Keegan (Joy) Dodson, Carly (Chris) Dyer, Curt Johnson, and Ryan Johnson; great grandchildren, Isabella and Magnum Volk, Madeline Cochuyt-Kendrick, Miranda, Sydnie, Fallon, & Jayde Cochuyt and Eduardo Chora, Kaylee, Cameron, Kyler and Karista Newberry, Hadilyn and Hudson Downing, Lance and Chase Dodson, Colby Dyer, & Caj Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Carl, Walter, and Walfrid; sisters, Wilma Anderson, June Scent, Violet Nelson, and Virginia Hillary.
