Ruth " Lois " Saunders, age 92 of Moline, died Sunday, April 1, 2007 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2007 with a visitation one hour prior at Salem Lutheran Church 1724-15th Street, Moline. The Rev. Randy Willers will be officiating. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Moline is assisting the family.
Lois was born April 20, 1914 in Rock Island, the daughter of Roy D. N. and Bess (Baker) Lindstrom. She married Allan C. Saunders on May 15, 1937. He preceded her in death on July 13, 2006.
Lois was employed as an upholsterer for the former Holders Upholstery in Moline, and later as a secretary for the former A.C. Allen Stockbrokers. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Moline and a choir member for over 30 years. Lois was one of the first members of the Hand Bell choir of the church, and was actively involved for 20 years. She was an avid knitter and crocheter, and did wonderful seamstress work for her family, friends and the church. In 1972, The Quadratones, of which she was a member, won the International Barber Shop Quartet Award in Canada . Lois was also a member of the Clara Lodge # 118 Independent Order of Vikings.
