Sandra L Fosbinder

Sandra L. Fosbinder, 81, of Rock Island, passed away February 13, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Friday February 16, 2024, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Funeral Mass will follow at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline is assisting the family.

Sandra was born on May 18, 1942, in Moline, the daughter of Roscoe E. and Bessie M. (Knowles) Williams. She was a graduate of Alleman High School, class of 1960. Sandra married Larry Fosbinder on July 22, 1961. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1995. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, and her faith was incredibly important to her. Sandra had previously worked as a real estate agent for various companies in the Quad Cities and Detroit area. She had a love for politics and served as the first woman Democratic Party Chairperson in Rock Island County. She loved to play the guitar and taught lessons for many years. She was also an avid and talented seamstress. Sandra’s greatest achievement was supporting her beloved husband who took on numerous successful ventures over the years. His success could not have been achieved without her being the loving and supportive foundation.

Survivors include her children, Mike (Pat Estes) Fosbinder, Michelle (Ed) Lillis, Krista (Bill) DeMeulenaere, Patrick Fosbinder; grandchildren, Jacqueline Menke, Courtney Fosbinder, Amanda (Mike) Giles, Allison (Eric) Schmechel, Grant (Cheyenne) DeMeulenaere, Kelly DeMeulenaere, Michael Fosbinder, Rory Fosbinder, Cosette Fosbinder; great grandchild, Ellie Giles; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; daughter, Tresa; sister, Verla Brown and parents.
