Sheri K Ramsey

Sheri K. Ramsey, 60, of Smith Square, Moline, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021, at River Crossing, Moline after a month-long illness.

Funeral services will be held at Noon Friday, September 3, 2021, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation will be held 1-hr prior at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.  There will be a gathering at Believers Together Community Center (3209 60th St, Moline) following the service.  Memorials may be made to Family & Friends of the Mentally Handicapped, 1712 26th St, Moline, IL.  Attendees are expected to wear a face mask.

Sheri was born on September 8, 1960, in Moline, the daughter of Avery Claude and June Ellen (Zimmerman) Ramsey.  She graduated in 1982 from Black Hawk Special Education.  Sheri worked for Arc Industries and Opportunity Center until July 29, 2021.  Sheri was the light in many people’s lives and was a great teacher.  She taught 3 generations of her family about love, patience, compassion, and planning.  As far as Sheri was concerned everything had to be planned months in advance and marked on her calendar.  Early in her life she loved legos and as she got older enjoyed puzzles and coloring.  Sheri loved music, facetime, Wheel of Fortune, the Lawrence Welk Show, vacations, S.P.E.C., church, Special Olympics, swimming, trips to Kewanee which always included McDonald’s with her Kewanee gang and planning the next visit.

Survivors include her father, Claude Ramsey, aunts, Marlene Sorensen, Virginia Hunsaker; cousins, Chery (Frank) Matuszyk, Krista (John) Wagner, Debbie Duke; 2nd cousins, Paige (Ralph) Matuszyk, Jenna Matuszyk, Dana Matuszyk; little cousins, Aubree and Case Horton; and many more cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, June Ramsey; aunt, Gladys Avery, and several other family members.
