Sherry L. McCarty

Sherry L. McCarty, 74, of Orion, passed away at UnityPoint Health Trinity in Rock Island on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

Sherry was born to Warren and Helen (Brown) Knox, on July 5, 1945, in Illinois.  She graduated from Moline High School in 1963.  She married Ralph McCarty in East Moline on October 28, 1966.  Sherry worked as a legal secretary at several Quad Cities offices and then worked 25 years at Cesario & Walker in Hinsdale before retiring.  Sherry was a member of Orion United Methodist Church.

Sherry enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting.  She also enjoyed fishing and bowling

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Ralph; son, Scott (Cindy) McCarty, Crystal Lake, IL, stepson, Tim (Diane) McCarty, Belvidere, IL; grandchildren, Brandon (Corey) McCarty, Kyle (Candis) McCarty, Melanie Alexander, and Josh Alexander.

She was preceded in death by her father, Warren Knox; mother, Helen Sim; stepfather, John Sim, and sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Melvin Landuyt.
