Shirley J. Maas, 78 of Coal Valley went home to dance in the arms of the Lord 4:40 p.m. New Years Eve at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley or charity of your choice.
Shirley was born June 17, 1926 in Moline to Harry and Helen Brundeson Anderson. She married Ralph H. Maas June 22, 1947.
Shirley was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley, where she helped out at vacation bible school for many years. In her earlier years she did accounting at Teskes, Moline and was a hat check girl at the LeClaire Hotel. She was a past leader of Coal Valley 4H Club, an active member of Coal Valley PTA for many years, she was a voting judge for Coal Valley, and a Pink Lady Volunteer for several years at Trinity Medical Center.
