Shirlie J. Helsel Ramsdell, 78 of Moline, IL, died April 11, 2010 at her winter home in Longboat Key, Florida.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 19, 2010 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be from 2 -5 P.M., Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church SCT Missions, Sarasota, Florida.
Shirlie was born on May 2, 1931 in Chicago to Jesse and Juanita Freeman. She married Harlan Douglas Helsel II on November 25, 1954 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on July 5, 1982. She married Dr. Stuart Ramsdell on August 16, 1985. He preceded her in death on November 24, 2009.
Shirlie graduated from Stephens College, Columbia, MO and Florida Southern College, Lakeland, FL. She is a retired Rock Island Grade School Teacher. She authored two phonic reading books. She was very active with her puppets in many schools and churches.
