Shirley Steen Lofgren

Shirley Steen Lofgren, 89, of Moline, died Friday, January 26, 2018, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.  Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family with arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2900 Avenue of the Cities, Moline.  Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until the service.  Burial will be at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal at a later date.  Memorials may be made to Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Shirley was born on April 1, 1928, in Abingdon, IL, the daughter of Arthur Reginald and Helen Lucille Sandholm Steen.  She married Howard John Lofgren on May 15, 1948, at Salem Lutheran Church, Moline.  She worked as a bookkeeper at Collinson Stone Company.

Shirley was an active member of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1936.  She was a member of the Calvary WELCA (Deborah Circle), serving as the treasurer for 20 years.  Shirley was also involved in Middlers and Happy Hookers.  She was a member of the via Crucis Kings Daughter Circle, being a charter member since 1944.  Shirley graduated from Moline High School, and met regularly with the girls of her 1946 class for Monthly Luncheons.

Survivors include her son, Greg (Pat) Lofgren, McHenry, IL; sister, Lorraine Beckingham, Oshkosh, WI; sister-in-law, JoAnn Sullivan, Moline; grandchildren, Alisha (Mike) Lofgren Jones, Moline, Josh (Angela) Lofgren, Parkview, Gina Lofgren, McHenry, IL, Tony and Phoung Schmitt, State College, PA, Gary and Jamise Schmitt, McHenry, IL; great grandchildren, Katlyn, Kenneth, and Madisen Jones, Allison, Katie, Nathan, Miles, and Madelyn Schmitt, and Delaney Lofgren; great great grandchild, Addalyn Snyder-Truitt; as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lofgren, and daughter, Pam Lofgren.
