Shirley M. Stoeber, 73, of Orion, IL, died Friday, August 16, 2013, at Rochester Methodist Hospital, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Orion United Methodist Church, 407 12th Avenue, Orion, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Private inurnment will be at the National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to WDLM Christian Radio. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion is assisting the family with arrangements.
Shirley was born on November 11, 1939 in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Ernest and R. Mildred Goodrum Mably. She married William "Bill" Stoeber on May 19, 1962 at St. Pius X in Rock Island, Illinois.
Shirley graduated from Allemen High School in 1957 and went on to work at the Rock Island Arsenal as an IBM Operator from 1958 - 1962, after marrying Bill she took on her favorite career as a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed outdoor sports and loved to travel. Shirley also enjoyed wintering in Florida with her husband. She attended both the Baptist church in Florida and the Methodist Church in Orion.
