Shirley A. Young, 81, of Silvis, passed away on August 13, 2016 at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family.
Shirley was born on June 1, 1935, in Lockman, IA, the daughter of James W. and Marguerite Arkless Kinsey. She married William A. martin in June of 1959, and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1995. She later married Edwin Young on July 19, 1997. She was a cafeteria worker for Calvin Coolidge in Moline.
Shirley enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles and in her younger years, she enjoyed crocheting. Shirley especially loved spending time with her family and puppies.
Survivors include her husband, Edwin, Silvis, IL; children, Pamela Martin, East Moline, IL, Alfred Martin, Moline, IL, Debra Martin-VanDamme, East Moline, IL, John Martin, Moline, IL; 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Nancy Smith, Rock Island, IL; beloved dogs, Poncho and Tiny.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister.
