Sue A. Abney, 64, of Colona, IL, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017, at Genesis Medical Center – Silvis Campus, Silvis, IL, after a seven year fight against cancer. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  A service to celebrate her life will be at Wildwood Church, East Moline, IL, on April 20th at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Le Claire, IA.

Sue was born to Gerald and Lucy Siver Calkins on February 6, 1953.  She married Kurt Kipper, Sr. in 1970, Dale Lund in 1983, and Darrell Abney in 1991.

She retired from Sentry Insurance in 2008.

Sue did not let cancer define her life.  Instead, she turned her illness into a testimony of love and grace to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  She was a member of Wildwood Church.  She enjoyed volunteering, camping, cooking, gardening, scrapbooking and especially spending time with her amazing grandchildren; Zackery, Jacob, Tyler, Gus, Kasha, Haley, Andrew, Kaiden, Kaileb, Logan, Aubrey, Garrett, Grace, Finn, Thomas, Elliott, Adalynn, and Titus.  They were truly blessings in Sue’s life.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, special grandmother, Grace Siver, and infant grandson, Oliver.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Darrell Abney; children, Kurt Kipper, Jr. (Amy), Jennifer Reagan (Tom), Kristofer Kipper (Jennilee), Julie Hipkins (Dustin), and her stepsons, whom she loved as her own, Weston Abney and Thomas Abney (Lauren).  Also, brother, Ed Calkins (Helga), sister, Jean Reyes, along with many nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews.

Memorials may be made to Wildwood Church or Colona Food Pantry.
