Sue Staley, of Moline, died in her home on Sunday, May 19, 2019, after living with cancer for over a year.
Family and friends are invited to participate in a Memorial Church Service at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2019, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 4501 7th Avenue, Rock Island. A luncheon will follow services at the church. In lieu of flowers, Sue requested any memorials be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church phone/video fund and the Metropolitan Youth Program in care of the Martin Luther King Center, 630 9th Street, Rock Island.
A memorial gathering will also be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2019, at Riverfront Grille, 4619 34th Street, Rock Island.
During her 72 years, her professional work included educating, nurturing and directing the growth of infants, toddlers, pre-school and school-age children; coordinating and developing programs for early childhood centers; working as an adjunct professor, and teaching high school students. Her favorite job was tutoring college students at Black Hawk College, Moline.
She enjoyed traveling, singing and supporting community theater.
Survivors include her husband, George Staley; daughter, Jennifer Johnson; 3 grandchildren, Nick Baird, Kyah and Kile Johnson; brother, Steve (Linda) Cole; and sister-in-law, Rebecca Staley.
