Sydney L. Reiling

Sydney L. Reiling, 80, of Coal Valley, passed away Wednesday March 12, 2025, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Saturday March 15, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday March 17, 2025, at Moline Memorial Park. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.

Sydney was born August 26, 1944, in Moline, the daughter of Willis and Ruth (Lidholm) Nitzel. She married Kenneth Witte in 1962. She later married Laverne Reiling in 1974. Sydney had previously been employed as a cashier Walgreens and later as a group home counselor at the Handicap Development Center, retiring in 2006. She loved being with her family and cats.

Survivors include her children, Suzanne Gustafson, Moline, Jennifer Clary, Bettendorf, and Steven Witte, Coal Valley; daughter-in-law, Brenda Witte, Rock Island; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Nancy (Richard) Ostrowski, East Moline; brother, Carl Nitzel, East Moline.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Kenneth Witte; 3 grandchildren; 1 great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Hast, Robert Nitzel and Willis Nitzel.
