Sylvia Belha, 99 and a half, of Moline, died Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline, IL.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave, Moline. Visitation will be an hour prior from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.
Sylvia was born on April 4, 1918 in Bettendorf, IA, the daughter of William and Mary Tomasek Machalek. She married John Belha on December 4, 1943 in Davenport, he preceded her in death on March 3, 1993. Sylvia was a lifetime member of the Moline VFW Ladies Auxiliary. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling, and throughout her life she enjoyed cooking, sewing, and fishing. Above all was her love for her family.
Survivors include her daughters Sylvia Kathleen (Leo) Carney, Vero Beach, FL, Judith Ann (John) Ridout, Traverse City, MI; sons John (Janet) Belha Jr., East Moline, Jerry Joseph Belha (Pam Olson), Milan, IL; 6 grandchildren, Mark (Jodi) Carney, Janet (David) Croom, Jerry Belha Jr., Brian (Brittney) Belha, Jessica (Kyle) Godfrey, Jennifer (Zach) Schuler; and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a great grandson; Jasper, siblings; Mary, Alyce, Blanche, Willy, Benny, and Walter.
