Ted E. Murphy

Ted E. Murphy, 78, of New Windsor, IL, died Friday, February 16, 2018, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Ave., Moline.  Cremation rites will follow visitation.  Inurnment will be at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal at a later date.

Ted was born on July 28, 1939, in Canton, IL, the son of Harry and Naomi Bollenger Murphy.  He married Connie L. Dorsey on August 29, 1959, in California.  He worked as a wireman for Montgomery Elevator for 20 years and for the New Windsor Telephone Company for 15 years, retiring in 2001.

Ted was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Navy.  He rode and enjoyed mortorcyles and enjoyed rebuilding antique tractors.

Survivors include his wife, Connie; son, Gary Murphy, New Windsor, IL; daughter-in-law, Heidi (John) Carabba, Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Jennifer (Salvador) Arredondo, Ophiem, IL, Veronica (Justin) Daughenbaugh, Albany, IL, Christopher Murphy, Springfield, IL, and Nattaliey Murphy, Springfield, IL; great grandchildren, Zach, Zoey, Jillian, and Samantha; and sisters, Bernice Miller, Stalton, IL, and Marguerite (Joseph) Vavroski, Milan, IL.

He was preceded by two sons, Todd Murphy and Rusty Murphy; his parents; and three brothers, Bob, Larry, and Jim Murphy.
