Tom Burney

Tommy Lee “Tom” Burney, 68, of Hampton, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at Heartland Health Care Center-Moline.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 17, 2018, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.  Memorials may be made to Active Day of Moline.

Tom was born on April 9, 1950, in Moline, the son of Eugene and Charlene (Sport) Burney. He married Kay Ann Page on May 20, 1972, in Rock Island.

Tom worked at McLaughlin Body for 10 years and then retired in April of 2014 after 36 years as a coal yard journeyman from Mid-American Energy.  He loved playing cards and looked forward to spending time with his family, especially on their different family vacations.  Tom also enjoyed golfing, woodworking and doing various home improvement projects.

Survivors include his wife, Kay; children, Deanna Burney, Angela Roberts, Brian (Kathryn) Burney, Tania (Jason) Cotter; grandchildren, Chelsea (Jared) Vasiliauskas, Kailey Cotter, Kaelyn Burney, Brandon Roberts, Jacob Roberts, Nicholas Burney, Zoey Burney, and Lilah Cotter; and brother, Bob (Deborah) Burney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, James Burney, Cheryl O’Neal, Michael Burney, and Ron Burney, and grandchildren, Andrew Burney and Gavin Cotter.
