Thomas “Tom” Morrissey, 60, of Hampton, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at his home from gastric cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 20, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1608 13 th St., Moline. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, with the rosary to be recited at 1:30 p.m., at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38 th Avenue, Moline. Cremation will follow services. Memorials may be made to the Hampton Fire & Rescue Auxiliary. All need to use 70 th Street for access to the funeral home due to the road construction.
Tom was born on January 29, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Paul and Marilou (Schulte) Morrissey. He married Christine Math on August 21, 1999, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Veteran, serving in the Navy. Tom had been employed at UnityPoint at Home. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a volunteer firefighter with Hampton Fire & Rescue Auxiliary, where he held the position of Chief Engineer. Tom was known for his strong faith and enormous capacity for loving family, friends, and community.
He took great pleasure in serving others.
He will be remembered as a man of great integrity, who possessed a smile and a laugh that would fill a room.
Survivors include his wife, Christine; daughters, Katie Morrissey, Waverly, IA, and Jessica Morrissey Renn, Waverly, IA; sisters, Julie Morrissey Peker, Long Island, NY, and Kathleen Cannon, Birmingham, AL; brothers, James, Galva, IL, Mike, Boston, MA, Steve, Old Lyme, CT, and Jeff, Blue Grass, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Also leaving behind his faithful companion Rufus.
