Tomas P. Sanchez, 74, of East Moline, died August 31, 2009 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Rite of Christian Burial will be 10:00 Friday, September 4, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Visitation will be Thursday from 4- 7 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Memorials may be made to Les Turner ALS Foundation (www.lesturnerals.org). Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery and Mausoleum, East Moline.
Tomas was born December 21, 1934 in Valle De Guadalupe Jal, Mexico to Salome and Beatriz (Perez) Sanchez. He married Jovita Mendoza in May of 1955 in Leon Gto, Mexico.
Tomas was an assembly technician for 22 years at John Deere Harvester. He retired in 1989.
In his youth he was a minor league soccer player. He enjoyed the outdoors especially power walking around his neighborhood and the river. He was also a cyclist. He enjoyed fishing, table games, cards, checkers, chess and dominos. He was a car enthusiast and was a "hands on" type of guy.
